Tina Campbell is gearing up to release her debut solo album “It’s Personal” and memoir “I Need A Day To Pray” on the same day. Tina Campbell, Grammy award winning gospel artist and WEtv Reality star of Mary Mary, is set to release her highly anticipated album and memoir May 7th.

If you have been watching this season of WEtv’s Mary Mary Reality show, you have heard a portion of Tina Campbell’s testimony of forgiveness after infidelity.  She also talks about while going through her process of healing how she began to journal and how the music began to be poured into her.  One of my favorite interviews that she did on the show is with WBLS. Call me bias because she is wearing a “My Scars” tee during the interview but her transparency is a blessing.  You can listen to the full WBLS interview.

“It’s Personal” will feature the current inspirational single “Destiny”.  “I’ve got a

destination in my view. The road may be bumpy getting there but I’m pressing through.  I will enjoy this journey no matter come what may. I’ll become better, and stronger and wiser every day. I’ve got a vision and a purpose, a divine destiny.  It may not look like it right now but faith ain’t what I see.  It is the things I hope for believing that it will come and that no matter how long it takes. I know God’s will shall be done.”  I’ve been listening to this song since last year when I saw a video of her performing it live.

I know that I will be grabbing my copy of both “It’s Personal” and “I Need A Day To Pray”.  So keep your eye out for a review coming soon.  Tina Campbell the process of your healing is so familiar to me. “I show my scars so that others know they can heal”. I wrote, I prayed, I cried, I questioned but in the midst of it all He was giving me a vision for my purpose, Destiny. Though “It’s personal” we understand that our testimonies are not for us but to bring hope to a lost and dying world. Thank you for showing your scars to the world!

Who’s Going To Show Their Scars

Who’s going to show their scars with me on this Thursday evening, April 2nd when Tina Campbell shows hers scars on WeTVs Mary Mary reality show? #MyScars

We are almost half way through Season 4 of WEtvs Mary Mary Reality Show starring Multi-Grammy and Stellar Award winners Tina Campbell and Erica Campbell . If you have been tuning in since the beginning of the season, you may have seen the “My Scars” tee on your tv.

Tina Campbell has allowed us viewers to witness vulnerable issues within her marriage while she fought for love. We couldn’t be more excited. Tina Campbell’s testimony and transparency truly captures the essence of the message “I show my scars so that others know they can heal”.  We say, “Tina keep showing your scars.  Someone needs to see your scars.” What did you think about the show?

Progress Is The Goal

I have been writing this blog in my head for the past few months. At first, I was beating myself up for not writing as much as I had been. But with progress being the goal, I must admit that I have made a lot of progress in other areas of my life. On December 23, 2014 I finally made moving back home to California a reality. Though it still feels like I’m just on an extended vacation, I snap out of it every Monday while I sit in traffic headed to work. Yes, in that 2 month time period, I received 3 job offers. Not to mention that during my first week of work my boss informed me he was signing me up for B-school with Marie Forleo.

And if relocating and starting a new job isn’t enough progress, I was also planning the first My Scars Chat of 2015. I was so honored this past Wednesday to be back on the campus of my Alma Mater, San Francisco State University, along with my undergraduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc and host a My Scars Chat with young women and men that were eager to learn and discuss the impact of domestic violence. And they showed their scars! They opened up and discussed some of their life experiences. They talked about the concerns they had for friends and I am confident that they left empowered and will continue to show their scars so that others know they can heal.

So no I have not been vacationing and over-indulging in free time but progressing forward. I have clients that I am also working with and bringing their brand messages to life through t-shirts. One thing is for certain I am content with where I am and I am going to find a way to celebrate myself very soon. I am learning not to be so hard on myself. Every seed that I plant is not going to blossom overnight but if I keep taking steps towards reaching my goals one day they will be achieved. “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”

And then there is that moment when you receive a text from a friend of a picture that she saw on Instagram of one of your favorite gospel singers and half of Mary Mary, wearing a My Scars shirt. Then you’re told by your Sorority sister that Tina Campbell wore hers on the Mary Mary reality show and you catch the promo clip. It reinforced that fact that, I may not be “busy” (doing stuff just to pass the time) but I am definitely making progress. What goals have you set? What are you doing to achieve them? Are you making progress? Do you need an accountability partner? I’m listening!

Erica Campbell: Help {Video}

I love this song and the video! The words are the very sentiments of my heart right now.  Erica Campbell did an excellent job and I love how she included her daughter Krista.  She is definitely training her up.

Lyrics:  “Said I do, but to tell the truth sometimes I don’t…I need a lifeline right now 911 won’t do, my backs against the wall now, done all that I could do….Help, help, Lord I need your help.”

Mary Mary: The Singing Duo Is Taking A Break

Mary Mary have been sharing their gift with us for the past 12 years as a group.  The sisters, Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell, introduced us to Shackles (Praise You) and broke through many gospel barriers with the release of their first album.  There music has been heard and played in places that many would have thought gospel music should not or would not be played.  Mary Mary have continued to make contributions to the Urban Contemporary Gospel category, garnering them Grammy’s, Stellar Awards and more.

Over the past few years, Mary Mary has taken to television as Sundays Best judges for the BET gospel singing competition.  With every new addition to their schedule, their lives have gotten a little busier.  We have also watched the growth of both Erica’s and Tina’s family.  Juggling a major singing career, television appearances, tours, recording and family can get hectic.  It can also create a lot of strain on relationships, health and eventually a career.  Though I hate to see them take a break, I definitely understand and wish them both the best during their haitus.

If you watch the Mary Mary reality show, then you know that Erica Campbell has been considering starting a solo career.  Tina’s priority right now seems to be her growing family.  Both of them have young children and these early years you don’t get back.  I have also read some comments on other sites speaking negative about them not taking out time for God, “you don’t see them praying”.  In 2013, I really want people to gain some understanding of how television works before you judge another man/woman’s walk.  If we could pray and preach on any network would there be a need for TBN or any other Christian network?  Okay rant over, but in all honestly, when you are going and going and going that balance can be lost.  Does it mean they love God any less?  I can’t say but I am sure that after this break, they will both re-enter ready to share their love for God through  music.   You can read more about their plans on Essence in an exclusive interview.

Are you a Mary Mary fan?  What do you think about the break?
